Black & Pink- May 21st Outfit

Black and pink is a color combination I haven't worn in awhile but one that I like. It makes a statement. And I used to avoid black on black for a long time, until I realized how chic it can look. I think the key to making black on black work is to first wear skinny pants second, have some kind of statement accessory that pops. I found this scarf on Kohl's website for only $2, and the proceeds went to breast cancer research. Win-win! Sadly, it's not available anymore. I snatched up this adorable peacock ring at Kohl's in person last week for only $4.80. I think it's so cute and colorful! And I've worn these black tribal herringbone print pants from Loft before, but this time I took a picture so you can see up close how they look. I love them, because they make the pants interesting, but in a more subtle way so that you can still wear them a lot. Plus they are a thin and soft type of corduroy, making them extremely comfortable- always a plus!

red and blue: May 16th Outfit

All of the pieces in this outfit are new except for the ring. And the shoes were worn just last week, as you saw, but they're still new. I was super lucky to score these amazing pants on sale from The Limited for just $6.99! Aren't they awesome? They print is abstract but kind of reminds me of animal, camouflage, and floral prints all in one. Most importantly: they're red. The top I just picked up at Target and I like the chambray look to it, even though it's not, and the pocket. And then this necklace from Kohl's is an instant new favorite! The whole outfit is very Springy to me- what do you think?

Imitation is the Sincerest form of Flattery: May 13th Outfit

I copied this outfit from a recent post of Audrey's at Putting Me Together, so it probably looks very familiar. I hope she doesn't mind. I debated on posting this outfit at all, but I really loved the simple look and had all the pieces, so I decided to recreate it. And this way you can see how it looks on someone else as well. I wore this outfit to a May Crowning Mass, out for errands, and then working. Grey and yellow is one of my favorite color combinations! I really don't know why I don't wear this scarf more often.

Top: Forever 21 (similar- $4)
Pants: Levi's @ 6pm.com (similar- $24)
Scarf: Target (similar- $8.80)
Jacket: Goodwill (similar- $40)

Grey and Purple: May 11th Outfit

Despite it being the middle of May, it was freezing on Saturday, so I had to dress warmly. We went out to dinner with extended family to celebrate Mother's Day at a delicious Mongolian restaurant. I just got this scarf from ModDeals and was so excited to have the opportunity to wear it. I got it for $5 and I could not be more thrilled with it- it's gorgeous and the quality is fantastic. Plus one side is more purple-ish and one side is more goldfish, so you could feature either side out. I wore it with a basic long sleeve grey top and my go-to purple skinny jeans. Then because I didn't want it to look too wintery- I threw on these sandals. Sure my feet were cold outside, but it was worth it to have that reminder that it is in fact Spring!

Top: Forever 21 (similar- $6.40)
Pants: Kmart (exact- $30)
Scarf: ModDeals (similar- $40)
Ring: Forever 21 (exact- $4.80)
Shoes: Pacsun (similar- $13.50)

Black and Lace: May 10th Outfit

I had gotten this very lightweight and see-through lace pullover awhile ago when I fell in love with it, but still had never worn it yet. I don't know why I never thought until now to put a black camisole underneath instead of just a white one. Duh! I instantly became obsessed with this outfit. I wore a light jacket outside since it was kind of cool out, so I took a picture with the jacket too. The top is very loose and drapey and just gorgeous. I didn't even wear any jewelry with this outfit, which you know is very rare if you've looked through my other posts, but I just felt that the outfit spoke for itself.

Top: Forever 21 (similar-$17)
Pants: Pajama Jeans (exact- $20)
Jacket: Sears (similar- $20)

Red White and Blue Denim: May 10th Outfit

I was totally digging the red and white striped top with the cropped denim jacket combination I had going on last Thursday. It has an Americana vibe but there's nothing cheesy about it. The stripes on the top are a more pinkish red, and really they could work as either color. I went into a store called Rainbow for the first time a few weeks ago and that's where I picked up this jacket for under $10. Love it! And these Croc sandals were scored at a Crocs outlet for only $10! I needed some red sandals and I love these and their chunky heel. Perfect for summer and comfortable too.

Top: Forever 21 (similar- $9.50)
Pants: Pajama Jeans (exact- $20)
Jacket: Rainbow (similar- $25)
Necklace: made by me
Shoes: Crocs (similar- $33)

White Lace and Jeans: May 8th Outfit

Sorry I got a little behind with posting my outfits, but I still snapped pictures so I'm able to upload them now. This was Wednesday of last week, and for the second day in a row, I used my StyleUp suggestion for my outfit. I love the simple but put together look of white lace on denim. It's not too dressy but still says that you care about looking nice. I wore this outfit for my internship working with the kids, and it worked well for that too. I don't mind white tops, but I'm still too scared to wear white pants around the little ones!

Top: (similar- $15)
Pants: pajama jeans (exact- $20)
Necklace: Groopdealz (similar- $58)
Ring: Forever 21 (similar- $2.80)

denim chic

I signed up for StyleUp, and I'm finding it quite interesting so far. You can say what type of outfits you want, rate outfits on the site so it gets to understand your preferences, and enter your zip code so it knows the weather in your area. You'll then get emails with an outfit for each week day based on all of this. I've only had it for less than a week so far, but I've already pinned most of the outfits sent to me so far. Last night I got the email with the outfit for today, loved it, and decided to recreate it for my own outfit today, since I had all of the similar pieces to do so. You can see the original picture below.

This is one of those outfits that just made me feel confident and good about myself from wearing it. Who doesn't love that?? A chambray shirt such as this one is something I'd recommend to every woman because it is one of the most versatile pieces you can own and well worth the investment. I love how it's loose fitting casual in this look. This is also the necklace that I wore yesterday that I'm wearing again, and how good does it look with this top? In the look, she's wearing a darker wash denim. I'm still too uncomfortable to do a true blue denim on denim, so these are actually purple skinny jeans. A slight variation, which looks just as good but more in your comfort zone if you're like me. Then there's the pop of yellow in the shoes again. Would you wear this outfit?

floral pants

This is what I wore to a baby shower yesterday. I got these pants a couple months ago and finally had a good opportunity to wear them. It was a big step when I bought them, because they were out of my comfort zone, but I'm much more comfortable wearing them now, just in these couple months. I think the key is too, to pair "loud" printed pants like this with a toned down top. This is a simple top from Forever 21, and I don't know if you can tell but the top part is a mint color. I love the yellow shoes to complete the look! I just got these on Saturday at Payless marked down to $12.50 as the deal of the week. As you know I love yellow, so it's no surprise that I adore yellow shoes. They add the perfect pop of color to an outfit. These sandals are wedges.

Top: Forever 21 (similar, the closest I could find- $20)
Pants: Kohls (exact- $9.60)
Shoes: Payless (similar- $32)
Necklace: Forever 21 (similar- $7)

Stripes and Brown

For my first day not Disneybounding in a month, I went to an outfit I had created on Polyvore. I highly recommend using sites like Polyvore and/or Go Chic or Go Home to preplan outfits based on the clothes you have. You don't have to use them every day, but sometimes it's really nice not to think and just have something already picked out by you and for you!

I really love this outfit. It should be no secret by now that I love stripes, especially black and white. This scarf is new and I am SO in love with it! It is so soft and stretchy and just fabulous. And the best part is that it's on sale- see the link below! I wore this outfit to play with my little guy and do another video. He seemed to like my scarf a lot as well ;)

Disneybound Day 19 Make Up/May 1st Outfit

Today is the make up for the day that I was sick. It was super hot here today, in the 80's, which we are not adjusted to here in the Chicago area after freezing for so long. I needed to keep cool and lightweight while still in long pants and an appropriate outfit for my internship- comfortwise and appearance wise. This resulted in a lot of agonizing last night over my closet. But when I was finally so tired that I couldn't stay up any longer, this is what I came up with

Pain and Panic

I decided to go with the simple and easy color combination of blue and pink to represent my two favorite henchmen. And I was still so hot today!

Top: Sears (similar- $39)
Pants: Kohls (similar- $18)
Necklace: Lia Sophia (similar-$10, similar- $19)

Disneybound Day 30/April 30th Outfit

Phew, I made it through a whole month of Disneybounding! Tomorrow I just have to do my make up day, and then I'll have completed all 30 days. It's really been a fun journey. This personal challenge inspired me to put outfits together that I never would have thought of before. It also brought a little excitement to each day as I channeled a different Disney character- I'm a Disney geek and not ashamed of it (I work with little kids, what else would you expect? ;) ). I will be eager, though, to start wearing some new pieces that I got that didn't fit in with any Disneybounding I could think of.

I'm giving a presentation in my class tonight- no big deal, but I think this outfit works great for it.

Magic Carpet

When I saw this shirt, it screamed Magic Carpet to me. And I bet you won't guess where I got it from... Kmart. They really do have some great items there for fantastic prices. This top is really cute in person! I'm wearing my coated plum colored skinny jeans, but it's hard to tell. This necklace I just got from Mod Deals. It was my first order from them and I was really impressed with the quality of the items. The prices were great as well and I will definitely be ordering from them again!

Top: Kmart (unfortunately, I can't find anything similar to this one, but there are tons of cute patterned tops here)
Necklace: Mod Deals (exact- $6.50)
Bracelet: Groopdealz (similar- $5)
Ring: Forever 21 (similar- $2.80)
Shoes: Mel (exact- $25)
