green snakeskin

Talk about a statement necklace, right? This is a huge one, and I just love the unique design! This green snakeskin (reptile skin? whatever you want to call it...) top is super comfortable, so it's a great go-to dressier top of mine! I had had this outfit created and saved on polyvore for awhile pairing the top with my plum waxed skinny jeans and this necklace and ring, so it was time to actually wear it to observe in my first grade classroom. I like that this outfit is a bit edgy but not too much- is it something you would wear?

neon and denim

I love the 80's feel that this denim and neon combination gives an otherwise ordinary outfit- so fun! I found this ring at Meijer's actually, in their clearance jewelry, and when I saw it I had to have it! I was also on the lookout for a light wash denim jacket and finally found this one at Forever 21. It's actually very lightweight and could be worn as a top by itself buttoned up too, a total plus. I wore this outfit last week on a day where I had to sit for a few hours and take a test that I need to pass to become a teacher and then go off to play with a little guy I work with, so comfort was key. And the little guy was totally fascinated by my gold ballet flats, which I'll take as a sign of good taste! ;) You can't see it too well in these pictures, but my shirt is actually a reference to ER, the tv show. Am I the only one who misses that show?

you can't go wrong with black

Black on black is so chic- you really can't go wrong with it. When I was in high school I equated all black with a gothic look, so it was something I avoided, but as I got older I realized that that's not necessarily the case at all. I think the key is to keep it streamlined, like I did here with this outfit with a fitted top and skinny pants. This look is also mixing textures with the black to keep it interesting. If you can see the details in the top, it has a burnout lace type of effect. And the pants are corduroy with a subtle tribal print. With this infinity scarf and the nude ballet flats, it was perfect to wear to observe in my first grade classroom, but also to transition into grad school class at night.

ha, I didn't even notice this theme when I was wearing the outfit!

h&m midseason sale

I think it's no secret that I love H&M. So when they have a sale, I am so there, especially now since they finally have online shopping! Their midseason sale has tons of items for great prices, but you have to act fast- 2 items in my cart were sold out by the time I checked out! Here is what I got:

h&m mid-season sale

How awesome is it that these mustard lined sneakers were only $10? I can't wait to wear them this fall! I have been coveting the green and gold version of this short sleeve sweatshirt top since I featured it when H&M shopping first went online. I had a small of it in my cart and by the time I was ready to check out it was gone. Darn! I'll look for it in the store next time, though, and in the meantime, I happen to like the blue version too. I saw these sweatshirts inside the store and they looked nice and comfy and oversized, but I'm so glad I waited to find them marked down for $10! I also love this chain ring. I'm always wearing big rings, but this one is so cool and different because it looks like stacked midi rings, but they'll all stay lined up perfectly. And finally there's these pants. I have my pair of coated plum colored jeans which I absolutely love, so here's hoping I'll love these brown ones too!

Did you check out the sale or do you plan to?

nautical

I featured this top awhile back in my 1 shirt 5 ways post with 5 looks for summer. Well, here is another one! This top is super lightweight and breezy. I love it with a black cami under it, though, and it looks great because the top is a high-low one, although you can't really tell in the pictures. I paired it with these medium wash wide leg jeans for something different, and a black and silver chain necklace.

maxi dress

I am so in love with this dress. I love tribal prints, and the print on this dress is fun. But most importantly, it's super comfortable! I wore it with this white sweater to a wedding reception recently, but I think it's going to have to become part of my regular rotation as well. Don't you love how comfortable maxi dresses are?

polka dot peplum

I wore this outfit for my first day visiting my preschool classroom that I'll be student teaching in. For now, I'm visiting there once a week. I think this top is super adorable, and peplums are so flattering. This one also has a zipper along the side which makes it easier to get on and off- a big plus! And as you know, I love polka dots. I'd say the outfit was a success, and so was my first day! The kids are so darn cute- I absolutely love preschoolers :)
