pinspiration

I thought I'd share some of my favorite pins lately on my style inspiration board. Some of them are from other fashion bloggers that I love to read! All of these are outfits that I either want to recreate soon or have already recreated!

Absolutely LOVE this look. And although I don't have any of the actual pieces needed (although I am seriously coveting this lilac skirt...) I have close enough pieces to achieve a similar look. For example, I do have lilac jeans. So stay tuned!

So simple, so how did I not think of this? Now this outfit, I have all the components. Burgundy jeans? check. Black top? check. Leopard scarf? check. Cognac boots? check. This will be happening very soon. If I happen to forget, please remind me.

You know I love yellow and stripes. So seeing them together? Fabulous. I really want to try this out. And any excuse to wear my yellow scarf is a good one! Also not exactly sure what the pattern on the shoes is (camo?), but I would wear this with leopard flats, for sure.

I love this outfit so much that I did recreate it, although it's not an outfit that ended up on the blog, unfortunately. But pairing floral pants with a white graphic tee and a black jacket (I did a blazer)? Genius!! It works so much and looks so chic. And look how it can dress up a graphic tee!

Finally, this one will have to wait for spring for me to wear, but I love it so much I wanted to share it anyway. I have all of these pieces and the colors together just look so bright and sunny and adorable! I'm a big fan of color and this outfit shows how you can wear several different ones together and still have it look put together.

So, tell me what you think of the outfits! Which ones would you recreate? And I'm thinking of making this a regular feature. Yes or no?

old faithfuls

I got this shirt quite a few years back and it's been a staple in my wardrobe ever since. I'm sure part of it has to do with the fact that I adore stripes, but it's just a classic top that can go with so much. I wore this outfit on a casual day working with the little boy I see one-on-one, so I threw it together rather quickly. But a piece like this shirt, an "old faithful" if you will, can hold it's own just fine in those conditions. What are some of your "old faithful" pieces?

stripes

I went shopping last week and found this shirt for $2.89 at Kohl's. Then with my 30% off discount, it ended up being less than $2!! I still can't get over how awesome that price is. Plus it is striped, and it contains my favorite color (yellow), along with my two favorite colors to pair it with (blue and grey). I think it's safe to say this shirt was meant for me, just sitting on the rack waiting for me to come along and pick it up.

I recently created twitter, pinterest, and instagram accounts for the blog. It was getting too tricky trying to use my personal accounts for these social media sites, so I just decided to keep it separate. You can find the links in the sidebar under my intro, in the shiny new little buttons I made for them! Hope to see you there!

Team Spirit

Last week I got to go to a White Sox game to support my team here in Chicago. I didn't get any formal pictures of my outfit, but here are a couple I snapped on my phone plus a bonus couple of the view. I love baseball games! They're definitely my favorite professional sporting event to attend- I think they're so fun, and I've always liked watching baseball, even if some say it's too slow. I coordinated my outfit to the Sox colors- how lucky is it to have a team whose colors are black and white? So easy to wear!

Black and white striped Gap top, black Loft shorts, some coral sandals, and a mint satchel from Charlotte Russe. I added some fun color to the look as well that still complimented the black and white and each other. Coral and mint is a great summer combination!

The view from our seats!

I also added this little anchor necklace from Forever 21 for a fun touch as well.

Outfits I Love

I know there's been a lack of posts here lately, sorry about that. I first was too busy with my summer grad school classes ending to blog (I finished on Wednesday- hooray!) and then this past week I've been volunteering at Vacation Bible School at my church all week, where I had to wear the same blue t-shirt every day. Not exactly worth blogging about... you know? Anyway, things should be back on track now. I am on a break from grad school classes until the end of August, which means you'll see a lot more casual outfits from me. But hey, it's summer! I'll still be doing my internship with the little ones two days a week, though, so I'll at least be dressing nicer for that.

Since I don't have any outfit posts to share this week, I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite outfits I've created on polyvore lately. As I've mentioned before, all of these are made up from the exact or similar to pieces that I own, so I plan to wear them all eventually. Feel free to pin if you feel so inspired!

Red White and Blue Denim: May 10th Outfit

I was totally digging the red and white striped top with the cropped denim jacket combination I had going on last Thursday. It has an Americana vibe but there's nothing cheesy about it. The stripes on the top are a more pinkish red, and really they could work as either color. I went into a store called Rainbow for the first time a few weeks ago and that's where I picked up this jacket for under $10. Love it! And these Croc sandals were scored at a Crocs outlet for only $10! I needed some red sandals and I love these and their chunky heel. Perfect for summer and comfortable too.

Stripes and Brown

For my first day not Disneybounding in a month, I went to an outfit I had created on Polyvore. I highly recommend using sites like Polyvore and/or Go Chic or Go Home to preplan outfits based on the clothes you have. You don't have to use them every day, but sometimes it's really nice not to think and just have something already picked out by you and for you!

I really love this outfit. It should be no secret by now that I love stripes, especially black and white. This scarf is new and I am SO in love with it! It is so soft and stretchy and just fabulous. And the best part is that it's on sale- see the link below! I wore this outfit to play with my little guy and do another video. He seemed to like my scarf a lot as well ;)

Disneybound Day 26/April 26th Outfit

I had the morning off from working today, at it's amazing all I was able to get done with the extra time in the morning! So I didn't actually get dressed until the afternoon, when I went to go to work, knowing full well that the kids would want to play outside on this nice day. Therefore I kept it casual

Meeko

I like the big, thick stripes on this zip-up sweater, which is hooded. Sometimes big horizontal stripes aren't flattering, but this is. I think it has to do with the way the pockets are positioned and defined. I watched Pocahontas yesterday, so that was my inspiration :) I am going to start switching out my winter clothes for summer ones, and this sweater will be going into storage until Fall, so I'm glad I got to squeeze in one more wear with it!

Disneybound Day 21/April 21st Outfit

It's still kind of chilly here in the Chicago area, but it looks like the end of this week it will finally start warming up to spring weather for good (fingers crossed). So I included a picture of my jacket that I wore today as well, because I think it ties in with the outfit nicely, even if it does have nothing to do with the Disneybound.

Deb/Flo

I like this outfit because I love stripes, especially navy and white stripes, and I love Deb from Finding Nemo. I also got a chance to wear this new necklace which I'm in love with.

Disneybound Day 8/ April 8th Outfit

Finally a day to leave the house and an opportunity to put some effort into my look. It was a rainy day and it's supposed to rain all week, but that didn't stop me. It just had me singing "drip drip drop little April showers..." in honor of

Flower

I think Flower from Bambi is adorable, so I was excited for this outfit because of that but also because I love stripes so much and I love this scarf. And I never would have thought of putting the two of them together but it works really well! I always love an outfit that makes me feel like me while looking good, because that's when I feel the most confident, and that's what this one did.
