1 Christmas Scarf 5 Ways

Here's the thing. I got an adorable little red and green Christmas scarf and I want to wear it tomorrow for a Christmas party with family. Our parties are nothing fancy, more like nice casual. But what will I wear my red and green scarf with? That's the dilemma I faced. And like always, I headed to polyvore to figure it out. I know I've talked about it lots before, but seriously, being able to plan out my outfits being able to see how they will look and then pinning them for later use? Perfection. But as I was creating different outfit combinations, I thought maybe you'd be interested in seeing the process.

So here are 5 outfits I created with one scarf that looks very similar to the one I have. All of the pieces are exact ones I own or very similar looking to ones I own. I haven't completely decided which one I'm going to wear yet, but I'll be sure to make a post with the actual outfit.

Hopefully this helps to show all the different outfits that can be created around just one accessory! And to maybe provide some inspiration for holiday outfits without looking like a walking, talking Christmas tree? Although if that's your thing, go for it! ;)

So what do you think? Which one(s) would you wear?

Casual Friday

I've had this sweatshirt forever. But some days, you just want to throw on a lived-in sweatshirt and some jeans, right? I know I'm not alone! I wore this when I went to work with the 3 year old little guy I visit and work with one on one, so I could dress nice and casually. As a side note, I just had my last visit with him last week and I'm really going to miss this little buddy! My goal was to help him make progress socially and he went from not even knowing how to play with another person, not making eye contact, and not being at all warm and fuzzy to now climbing in my lap, making lots of eye contact with me, and interacting with me so much more in play. So now I feel awful leaving him, because of how attached he's become, but I couldn't imagine anything better than working with young kids with special needs!

Do you ever wear sweatshirts out of the house?

I love fall outfits

I wore this outfit about 2 weeks ago, back when the weather still resembled Fall somewhat, before the below freezing and snowy weather we have now here in Chicagoland. Look at the leaves that were still on the ground! This is basically a perfect fall outfit to me: boots + sweater + scarf. Can't go wrong with that formula!

Did you get much of an opportunity to dress for Fall weather?

matching

Outfits that are too "matchy" can go oh so wrong a lot of times, and I try to avoid too much matching. But I think this outfit totally works. The colors match up perfectly but it's not too much and actually ends up looking really nice together. What do you think?

Do you wear a lot of matching outfits?

chambray and lavender

I wasn't able to get good pictures of this outfit but I really liked it so I wanted to share anyway, and hopefully you'll still be able to find some inspiration from it! You can get a better look in the polyvore set below. These lavender jeans from H&M are super cute but they are low rise, and when you're sitting on the ground, bending over and playing with little ones, low rise pants can be a problem, as you can imagine. But pairing them with a loose fitting trusty chambray top works perfectly, and I love the 2 colors together!

white and leopard

I pinned a similar version of this outfit a long time ago and I finally got the chance to wear it! I love everything about this outfit. Like a lot. You may remember when I talked about how I had searched for the perfect leopard scarf for so long, and I was so excited when I finally found this one, and for only $5. I also think that a white sweater of some kind is a great fall/winter wardrobe staple.

What are some of your favorite pinned outfits? I'd love to see them!

dress and pants

I wore this outfit to teach a lesson in my first grade classroom I'll be student teaching in. Yes, I'm wearing a dress and pants. Skinny pants, of course. I'm sure this is controversial, although I don't see it as much different than wearing a dress and leggings. Sometimes I'd just rather have pants instead, though, and they kept me warmer! Love this dress too, so cute and comfy and I got some nice compliments on it! Can't wait to wear "teacher outfits" every day starting in a couple months ;)

And here's a secret, this ring is from Claire's, and every time I wear it I get compliments! Sometimes, if you pick out "cheap" jewelry carefully, you can find some real gems for next to nothing!

Would you wear a dress with pants?

Fall Cara Box

This was my second time participating in the Cara Box exchange over at Wifessionals and I had a great time again! You get paired up with 2 partners that you get to know, and then you send a box to one partner and you receive a box from the other. If you're interested, go check it out to see if it's something you want to sign up for!

This time I was paired up with Aleshea and Angie.

I sent a box to Aleshea, who writes Glitz & Gritz. Aleshea and I have quite a bit in common so it was nice talking to her! Her blog is full of all kinds of fun and some really delicious looking food. I had a great time shopping to pick out things to send to her! You can check out her blog to see what I sent her.

I received my box from Miss Angie at My So-Called Chaos. I loved talking to her too and getting to know how sweet she is! There's lots of fun to see at her blog too, and you have to check out her etsy shop as well, so much cuteness! I was so excited when my box arrived and oh my goodness, it was filled with such awesome things!!

Loved the gold tissue paper everything was wrapped in too!

LOVE this adorable "welcome autumn" illustration! So cute and it's already hanging up!

Mmmm pumpkin spice coffee from Starbucks! And an adorable pumpkin jar and cider candle that smells SO good!

Isn't this journal the cutest? I love it! Plus some chapstick, lip shine, and a lip pencil. And this scarf!! I am SO in love with it and can't wait to wear it! Be prepared to see it in a post soon!

Look at this adorable little fox dish- so cute! And I love the cozy fleece blanket too- definitely going to keep it with me for all of the cold grad school nights I have coming up!
