animal print and curves

I may be working to get more fit as I posted about yesterday, but I know and love my body for what it is. I have curves, and I'm proud of them! Take this animal print top that I wore last week to my second student teaching contract meeting. I made sure to get a picture so you could see how it looks on me. Tell me this isn't a top that was designed for a girl with curves- it fits them perfectly! This top is from Sofia Vergara's line at Kmart, which I am really digging, because I think all of the clothes are designed this way to look good on women who have some curves. Plus the prices are Kmart affordable! And yes, this was two days in a row that I wore this bootcut dress pants. I've had them so long I can't remember where I got them from, but I think this is a great staple for your wardrobe, and the ones below are really similar!

pinspiration

I thought I'd share some of my favorite pins lately on my style inspiration board. Some of them are from other fashion bloggers that I love to read! All of these are outfits that I either want to recreate soon or have already recreated!

Absolutely LOVE this look. And although I don't have any of the actual pieces needed (although I am seriously coveting this lilac skirt...) I have close enough pieces to achieve a similar look. For example, I do have lilac jeans. So stay tuned!

So simple, so how did I not think of this? Now this outfit, I have all the components. Burgundy jeans? check. Black top? check. Leopard scarf? check. Cognac boots? check. This will be happening very soon. If I happen to forget, please remind me.

You know I love yellow and stripes. So seeing them together? Fabulous. I really want to try this out. And any excuse to wear my yellow scarf is a good one! Also not exactly sure what the pattern on the shoes is (camo?), but I would wear this with leopard flats, for sure.

I love this outfit so much that I did recreate it, although it's not an outfit that ended up on the blog, unfortunately. But pairing floral pants with a white graphic tee and a black jacket (I did a blazer)? Genius!! It works so much and looks so chic. And look how it can dress up a graphic tee!

Finally, this one will have to wait for spring for me to wear, but I love it so much I wanted to share it anyway. I have all of these pieces and the colors together just look so bright and sunny and adorable! I'm a big fan of color and this outfit shows how you can wear several different ones together and still have it look put together.

So, tell me what you think of the outfits! Which ones would you recreate? And I'm thinking of making this a regular feature. Yes or no?

Chambray and Purple

I'm trying a new method of photo posting, because some days I'm just not able to snap pictures of myself at all, and other days I'm able to quickly but I'm not really happy with how they turn out. And it's been leading to less posts from me lately, which I don't like. So I'm going to try at least taking pictures of the clothes, and then snapping pictures of myself wearing them when I can, because I know sometimes it makes a difference to see the outfits on someone. Although to be honest, in this frigid Chicago weather we're having right now, don't expect too many of them ;)

So this is an outfit I wore out shopping last week. This is my little denim on denim "cheat": purple jeans. A little less overwhelming on the whole blue denim on both top & bottom effect, but still achieves a very similar look. I've done this method before and I love the result. I got this necklace in a grab bag from Apple of My Eye jewelry and I absolutely love it! The red and gold is perfect and it went great to add a pop to this outfit!

How do you wear denim on denim, or do you not wear it at all?

chambray and lavender

I wasn't able to get good pictures of this outfit but I really liked it so I wanted to share anyway, and hopefully you'll still be able to find some inspiration from it! You can get a better look in the polyvore set below. These lavender jeans from H&M are super cute but they are low rise, and when you're sitting on the ground, bending over and playing with little ones, low rise pants can be a problem, as you can imagine. But pairing them with a loose fitting trusty chambray top works perfectly, and I love the 2 colors together!

Top: DKNY

feeling girly

This is such a girly outfit, with pink and purple and flowers galore. I love how sweet it looks, and it's fun to show my girly side sometimes. And I know I've talked about my purple skinny jeans before and how much I love them, but can we give them a moment here? Imagine this outfit with regular denim for a second. Not as much pop at all! If you're thinking about getting your first pair of colored jeans, I'd definitely say purple is the way to go. These were my first and I fell in love. They're darker and not as "loud", so they're not as intimidating to wear. But they still really bring outfits to the next level and look a little bit dressier as well.

Purple skinny jeans: do you own a pair? Do you want a pair?

polka dots and pastels

I have such a weakness for buying jewelry. On every single shopping trip I end up buying more, even though I already have so many pieces. That is what happened when I had some time to kill so I went to a nearby mall. I went into Forever 21 telling myself that I already had too much of their jewelry, and then I walked out with this necklace. But it's so pretty and not like anything I already have is how I justified it to myself. I know, excuses, excuses...

I was also thrilled because the day that I wore this was actually the first day of Fall that I needed a jacket of any kind!
