Disneybound Day 29/April 29th Outfit

I am loving the sunshine and warm weather today! I sat outside with my laptop to get some work done, and I actually have a tan line where my shorts were. Hooray for some color! I've been looking forward to this outfit today

Pongo

The name of this blog is Lace, Stripes, and Polka Dots after my three biggest loves in clothing. So you can guess easily that this one is a favorite. I love this top, and the whole outfit feels so effortless and comfortable. I wore a black camisole underneath, which gives the illusion of high waisted pants or a jumpsuit, even though I don't have either on. And black and white is so fun with a pop of red, representing, of course, Pongo's collar.

Disneybound Day 28/April 28th Outfit

Nearing the end of my month of Disneybounding, I went on the search for a unique character to do that I hadn't previously thought of. And I actually really love the outfit I came up with as a result

Etch (from Toy Story)

I never thought I'd say one day that my outfit was inspired by an etch-a-sketch, but there you go. This was the first time I got to wear this top (which I love and found on Storenvy), and I really love it paired with my red skinny corduroys. I can't imagine it looking better with any other color pants. Red and grey is a great color combination! I also love these shoes to complete the outfit. And I just noticed my hand looks grossly bruised in this picture. Sorry about that- I promise it's actually fine!

Disneybound Day 27/April 27th Outfit/Closet Organization

Today I began switching out my winter clothes for summer clothes, which I usually do over the course of a few days. It's always fun to rediscover items that you'd forgotten about. I'm trying a couple different things with my clothes this season, so we'll see how they work out. First, I would always separate casual from dressier clothes in the past. I'm still keeping the very dressy ones separate, but the rest are all mixed together. I'm really hoping this inspires me to dress up more traditionally casual pieces and dress down more traditionally dressy pieces. The idea is that it will help me have even more outfit possibilities! Second, I am grouping my items by color schemes (pink/red/orange/yellow, blue/green/purple, and black/white/brown/grey/multi). Not sure if this will be helpful or not, but the thinking is that it will help me find pieces that I'm looking for more quickly.

I'll keep you updated about how these methods work out!

So today's outfit was very causal as I got the work done

Ariel

I have a dressier version of Ariel planned out for one day too, but today I went with the casual version. I made this necklace out of air dry clay and painted it pink. I really love how it turned out for Ariel!

Disneybound Day 26/April 26th Outfit

I had the morning off from working today, at it's amazing all I was able to get done with the extra time in the morning! So I didn't actually get dressed until the afternoon, when I went to go to work, knowing full well that the kids would want to play outside on this nice day. Therefore I kept it casual

Meeko

I like the big, thick stripes on this zip-up sweater, which is hooded. Sometimes big horizontal stripes aren't flattering, but this is. I think it has to do with the way the pockets are positioned and defined. I watched Pocahontas yesterday, so that was my inspiration :) I am going to start switching out my winter clothes for summer ones, and this sweater will be going into storage until Fall, so I'm glad I got to squeeze in one more wear with it!

Disneybound Day 25/April 25th Outfit

I don't have anything special going on today, just working my nanny job and then grad school class at night. But we all know that when we look good, we feel good, right? I love today's outfit, so it's making me feel good on an otherwise ordinary day.

Snow White

I've never done a primary colors combination for my outfit before, but now I realize that's just silly. I'm loving these colors together in my outfit. My pants are more of an orangish yellow, but that's ok. I am really in love with these pants. I paired them with a more lightweight and slouchy blue top, which I think gives the outfit a more effortless look. I just got this necklace in the mail, and it's perfect. Red shoes are a perfect pop of color to any outfit, and I was really lucky to score these online from Urban Outfitters for $4 last summer. Then to finish off, I added my owl ring, inspired by Snow White living in  the cottage in the woods.

Get a similar complete look for only $70.40!

Pants: Carsons (similar- $35)
Shoes: Urban Outfitters (similar- $9)
Necklace: Sassy Steals (exact- $8.40)

I was really excited when I noticed this morning that I got positive comments on my Esmeralda outfit on clothapp.com! Honestly, this was definitely one of my favorite, if not my very favorite, Disneybound outfits so far. And I always love getting feedback, so it was nice to hear that others liked it too! So if you stumble across this blog, don't ever be shy to comment- all are welcome :)

Disneybound Day 24/April 24th Outfit

Wednesday is internship day! It was chilly today, but at least it stayed dry and the sun came out. I was so excited to do this outfit today. It was the one I was going to do last Thursday but had to postpone. Then I found the ring. If you've ever Disneybounded, you know the excitement at finding the perfect item for a character.

Nemo

This is literally the only orange top I own. I used to hate orange for awhile. But now I'm realizing that there are shades of orange that I like. Plus, I feel like orange is everywhere right now and super popular, so the more I see cute outfits with it, the more I've come to appreciate it. Orange is winning me over. I just got this bag, and I got it for an amazing price. I think it will get a lot of use. Then there's the ring, which I found while browsing items on ebay. Awesome, right? And I have to say, the kiddos loved it today too as many were distracted by it while I played with them ;)

Disneybound Day 23/April 23rd Outfit

Today was rainy and windy and miserable, so I think I just gravitated towards today's outfit because of the bright colors. It was also another day being on the floor with the little guy, so comfort was a must.

Kevin

I love Kevin from Up- who doesn't? This outfit is a little "louder" than what I'm used to with all the different colors, but it wasn't something that I was uncomfortable wearing. So it was good to push me a little outside of my comfort zone. I got this cardigan at the Gap outlet at my most recent shopping trip and I love it because it's so cute and quirky with the little square polka dot type pattern.

Disneybound Day 22/April 22nd Outfit

Finally a day of sunshine and warmth! Even if the days to come will be cold and or rainy again, it was great to enjoy today while it lasted. I decided to have my Disneybound today coincide with Earth Day

Grandmother Willow

I love this cardigan. It's soft, lightweight, and I I love the color. It's a little brighter in person. I don't have any actual brown pants besides a pair of sweatpants, and sweats to class are so undergrad, so I cheated a little with these burgundy pants. But I think the color scheme works. Did I mention I got these Old Navy pants at Goodwill for $4 and they fit perfectly? You can't beat awesome finds like that!

Disneybound Day 21/April 21st Outfit

It's still kind of chilly here in the Chicago area, but it looks like the end of this week it will finally start warming up to spring weather for good (fingers crossed). So I included a picture of my jacket that I wore today as well, because I think it ties in with the outfit nicely, even if it does have nothing to do with the Disneybound.

Deb/Flo

I like this outfit because I love stripes, especially navy and white stripes, and I love Deb from Finding Nemo. I also got a chance to wear this new necklace which I'm in love with.

Disneybound Day 20/April 20th Outfits

Sadly yesterday I was knocked down with the stomach flu. Thankfully I'm feeling much better today, but it was an effort to get me off the couch yesterday, let alone get dressed. So I thought about it, and I'm going to make up that day for my month of Disneybounding on May 1st. And I promise the outfit will be much better that day than it ever could have been yesterday when I was sick.

So today, in the morning I wasn't sure if I was going out today, so I did my first version of Boo with my purple skinny jeans and a pink tshirt. Then I found out I was indeed going to see Jurassic Park in 3D (My FAVORITE movie of all time. It was amazingly awesome!!), so I did an adapted version that looked nicer and also incorporated my I heart dinosaurs shirt. I had to.

Boo

The funny thing is that I didn't even realize until I got to the theater that I was actually also somewhat Disneybounding (JurassicParkbounding?) Ellie Sattler as well, since she has the pink top that she ties in the movie and a purple tank top underneath, although my purple is in my pants instead. It worked out well! I guess Jurassic Park is just that embedded in my brain ;) I never would have thought to tie my cardigans until I started reading style blogs, and this was my first attempt with it. I love the way this one looks tied, which is great because now I can do two looks with it!

Disneybound Day 18/April 18th Outfit

I had a cute outfit all planned out to wear today, but you'll have to wait for another day soon to see it. Because with the crazy rain we've gotten, my grad school class was canceled tonight due to flooding at the campus. To add to that, I've had an awful migraine all day. So there went my motivation to do anything, including getting dressed nicely. This morning I went to work in my pajamas (the benefit of being a nanny for family) and finally before I went back to work in the afternoon I managed to put this on

Mrs. Jumbo

Not what I had planned together, but at least I still pulled off a Disneybound. Comfy sweatpants and t shirt, and I threw on the necklace too.

Top: Hanes outlet (similar)
Pants: old, don't remember (similar)
Necklace: gift, nothing similar

I was going to participate in Mix and Match Fashion's what I wore to work link up today, but alas it will have to wait til next time, because this is hardly worth sharing.

Disneybound Day 17/April 17th Outfit

It was another day of my internship today and we also had a meeting with my supervisor at school afterwards, so I wanted to make sure I looked nice and put together, but also not too fancy, and my clothes had to be comfortable to sit on the floor and play. And to hold up in these storms, of course...

Sulley

Look at my new ($5) purse! Isn't it cute? The coloring is not good in these pictures, but the cardigan is a teal color and the pants are purple skinny jeans. I've paired this cardigan with this top before and I love them together because I think it's just adorable. These pants were such an awesome find for $5 at Kmart marked down, because they are super comfy and fit perfectly. Love!

Disneybound Day 16/April 16th Outfit

I had a doctor's appointment early this afternoon and then had to go to class right after. I wanted to be comfortable and casual for my doctor's appointment, but I wanted to look decent for class as well.

Dumbo

First of all, excuse how bulky my waist looks. I was wearing my abdominal binder that I have to wear for 8 weeks post surgery, and it's not the most flattering. I wore a simple grey tshirt and jeans combination, but I added accessories to pull it together and also incorporate Dumbo. I think this is a good example of how to take a super simple and casual outfit but still make it look put together. I also love a grey and yellow color combo.

Disneybound Day 15/April 15th Outfit

The only thing I have going on today is class tonight, which I still like to look nice for but still want to be on the casual and comfy side. It's going to rain all this week too- please sun, where are you??

Dinah from Alice in Wonderland

I can't do white shoes like Dinah's little white paws today because I'm not going to ever wear white shoes in the rain. But I still think this outfit is cute enough.

Disneybound Day 14/April 14th Outfit

Today I went to church and then had a baby shower to go to. I had no idea how to dress for the weather since it was cold this morning but supposed to get warm later but with a lot of wind. A sweater ended up working perfectly, though.

Flit

I really love this outfit because I wouldn't have thought to put these colors together necessarily but I think it looks really fresh. I love these pants from New York & Co. because they're nice and a pretty color. And this ring is one that I got on clearance at Kohl's for a couple dollars but one I wear all the time because it really goes with everything.

Disneybound Day 13/April 13th Outfit

I went shopping today, so I wanted something comfortable and easy to take off if I needed to try things on. I was at an outdoor mall, so I also needed something layered, because it was so cold outside- in 30 degree temperatures! We even saw some snow flurries in the afternoon which for mid-April is crazy. I wanted to look Springy even if the weather didn't feel like it.

Tulips from Alice in Wonderland

I was watching Alice not too long ago, and I really liked the color combination of the three tulips in the flower scene, which were purple, pink, and yellow. I included pictures of them for reference. It was a great day of shopping as well, and I picked up several new pieces that I really love. Look for them to show up in my outfits soon.

Disneybound Day 12/April 12th Outfit

Today the rain continued as it has every day this week, and it's actually quite chilly today. I had to teach a lesson in the preschool class I work with, so I had to look nice and professional.

Daisy Duck

I love this outfit. This was my first opportunity to wear these new pants and I really love them. I wouldn't have thought I'd ever wear orange pants, but I love this shade. And this top is one of three in different colors that I got from eBay for $2.50. Can you say amazing? Check them out for yourself in the link below. I got this necklace from Loehmann's and I can tell it's going to be a staple in my profess wardrobe because of its simple elegance. I think I love this outfit so much because I love all of the pieces individually, and I also think it matches Daisy perfectly. When I feel confident because of my clothes I do think it helps me be a more confident teacher.

Top: eBay (exact)

I went to add this bag to my shopping cart about a week ago and when I did, the price went from $20 as listed to $5 in my cart! I was so excited, and I have the bag in person now and it's adorable! I guess it just goes to show that it doesn't hurt to add things to your cart in case.

Find the bag here.

Disneybound Day 11/April 11th Outfit

Today I went to visit an awesome little boy I'm working with through a school program. I had to develop and video a play session with him like we would do in developmental therapy. So I needed to look semi decent for my video but also be in clothes I could play around with a little boy in.

Faline

I got this sweater a few weeks ago from Old Navy and I really just wanted to wear it before the weather gets too warm. Isn't it cute? So I designed a Disneybound around it. Faline seemed to fit the best. I got these pants from Goodwill for $4 back in the fall and was so excited!

I’m currently in the process of going through each of my clothing and accessory items and saving them (or similar items if I can’t find the exact) on polyvore. I have a lot of stuff so it’s tedious work! But it will be so worth it when I’m done, to be able to have my own virtual closet on there and come up with outfits I can wear in the future for all occasions. And I can even do it on the go on the iphone app. So far I have all of my pants, scarves, bags, blazers, cardigans, and bracelets done, and some of each of the other categories.

Disneybound Day 10/April 10th Outfit

It was another day full of rain and thunderstorms as I went out to do my internship, so I needed a comfortable, functional, nice casual outfit that could hold up in the weather, and what I had planned worked great.

Mickey Mouse

Who better to dress as working with kids than Mickey?? I got these pants from Loft marked down to $8 which was awesome. I never would have considered red skinny pants or red pants at all up until recently, but I'm glad I became more courageous and opened my mind to the idea, because I really love these pants. They're really lightweight and super comfortable! And these are crocs, but they're cute ones, right? I can't resist bright yellow, and they really are comfy to walk on, which helps with the pain from my nerve condition. It ended up being quite cold today so I wore my black cocoon sweater too for a little extra warmth.

Top: (similar)
Pants: loft (exact)

ebay

I’ve been using ebay more and more lately, and I’m really happy with all of the purchases I’ve made from there so far. I find it especially useful if you’re looking for something specific, because chances are good that you’ll find it. For instance, I was looking for a red cardigan and found one for just a few dollars that was perfect and less than the price I’d find in any store. If you go in just to look, it can be overwhelming. I avoid the auctions and just do the “buy it nows”. Some tips that I have would be to read the descriptions thoroughly, check the seller’s rating, and check the shipping costs. Ebay can be a great way to find what you need for a fantastic price!

Coated Jeans

At first I was a little scared at whether or not I could pull off this trend. But finally I decided I wanted to try it. I searched and when I found this pair at Kohl’s I was sold and had to buy them. I got them in the mail today, tried them on, and immediately fell in love. They are perfect for giving your outfit a little extra edge but without going crazy. I think I’ll be wearing these a lot.

Disneybound Day 9/ April 9th Outfit

I love my Disneybound outfits especially when they are more detailed and feel more like the character. And I feel that's what I accomplished today. I even watched The Hunchback of Notre Dame this afternoon to get in the mood, since it's been forever since I've seen it.

Esmeralda

I love these purple skinny jeans, which I got at Kmart for only $5. Yes, you can get decent clothing at Kmart, and for great prices too. I never usually wear white by itself as a top, so this was a little out of my comfort zone. But having the scarf helped with that. I also love this grown up take on the jelly shoes I wore all the time as a kid, because I think they're fun and can be worn with pretty much anything. And the jewelry just worked well with the outfit and Esmeralda as well. These sleeves were really long, so I folded them back and the forward again, to shorten them but cover up the inside of the seam. And voila, perfect length for showing off bracelets! Why did I only think of this now?

Disneybound Day 8/ April 8th Outfit

Finally a day to leave the house and an opportunity to put some effort into my look. It was a rainy day and it's supposed to rain all week, but that didn't stop me. It just had me singing "drip drip drop little April showers..." in honor of

Flower

I think Flower from Bambi is adorable, so I was excited for this outfit because of that but also because I love stripes so much and I love this scarf. And I never would have thought of putting the two of them together but it works really well! I always love an outfit that makes me feel like me while looking good, because that's when I feel the most confident, and that's what this one did.

Disneybound Day 7/April 7th Outfit

Yet a third day at home in a row. What's a girl who's committed to Disneybound every day this month to do? I feel a little silly getting dressed in anything other than super casual when I'm not leaving the house.

Flounder

Another outfit with my favorite colors. I did put a little effort into the look with the jewelry, but these are clothes I wouldn't leave the house in.

Shirt: Goodwill (similar)
Pants: Kohl's (similar)
Necklace: gift
Ring: flea market

Disneybound Day 6/ April 6th Outfit

I contemplated going out to do a little shopping today, but in the end staying home and creating outfits on polyvore won. The extreme wind wasn't exactly motivating either. So I went with another comfy outfit.

Grumpy

This outfit is simple but the scarf helps pull it all together, which I used to simulate Grumpy's beard. This shirt was another ebay find. Oh the things you can get for just a couple dollars on there...

Disneybound Day 5/ April 5th Outfit

After a long week of getting back into grad school classes and my internship after surgery, I was so glad to just be home on Friday and have anywhere to go. This is what I wore.

Maleficent

It was a comfy outfit but I like the combination of this purple tee and the black cocoon sweater, which could easily be worn together out of the house as part of an outfit as well.

Disneybound Day 4/April 4th Outfit

Yellow and blue are my favorite two colors and I love to wear them together. But I never would have thought to put this blue henley top with this yellow perforated cardigan for some reason, much less with the black floral scarf. But I think it worked in a different kind of way.

Dory

I am obsessed with this new ring I was wearing, by the way. And this cardigan was one of those items that I instantly had to have when I saw- cute AND yellow! :)

Disneybound Day 3/ April 3rd Outfit

Today was my first day of actually making an effort to Disneybound. I do my developmental therapy internship on Wednesdays. Since the work is in Early Intervention which means going into people's homes, DT's don't dress up too much, because you sit on all types of floor and work with families of all income levels. So this outfit was perfect for nice casual and comfy at the same time.

Minnie Mouse

Sorry for the awful picture quality. I snapped these in a hurry early in the morning before I left. This top is so cute and perfect for Minnie. I found it on ebay and couldn't resist! I do love being pink and girly every so often, so this was a fun outfit to wear.

Disneybound Day 2/ April 2nd Outfit

April is Autism Awareness Month, and April 2nd was World Autism Awareness Day. This is a very important issue for me. I'm going into the field of working with young children with special needs and autism has become so prevalent lately. I have worked with some amazing kids with autism and the world needs to know that autism isn't something to be feared.

So I really wanted to wear my Autism Speaks shirt in support of Light it Up Blue for Autism. And I needed to Disneybound. Hence this outfit:
Test Track 2.0

The new version of Test Track in Epcot was the only thing I could think of. I tried to keep with the design, although I haven't actually seen it in person yet. I love these Puma ballet shoes, though, and I actually ended up getting them for free from Ruelala with a $30 credit, which was awesome!

Disneybounding Day 1/ Outfit for April 1st

So while I was recovering from surgery, I became addicted to Disneybound. The creator, Leslie Kay, posts outfits inspired by Disney characters using everyday clothes. I was really intrigued because of my loves of Disney and fashion and it sounded like a lot of fun! I thought it would be a great way to put together outfits in different ways than I normally would. So I decided to do my own April Disneybound Challenge. Here was my first outfit on April 1st.

Peter Pan

I didn't start off with a bang, unfortunately, because I was home all day this day and not feeling well, so I wasn't very motivated to dress nicely. But I think it still captures the essence of Peter.
